What people sometimes say
- “I only drink to take the edge off.”
- “I keep promising myself this is the last time.”
- “Without it, I don’t know how to get through the evening.”
Drinking or using often starts as a solution: a way to calm down, to feel close, to get through the evening. We try to understand what it has been doing for you, and what it costs, alongside the practical work of cutting back or stopping. When medical care or a recovery program is needed, we work alongside it, not instead of it.
We meet in person on Hilliard Street, near Harvard Square, or by video. The first half hour is a free conversation, with no obligation.
